Hi,
I just recently purchased Windows Home Edition OEM on the internet. This is an origonal complete with product key code an is unregistered. It wasn't until after i purchased it i was confused as to what the OEM was. I searched on the net and it stands for Origonal Equipment Manufacturer ???? is this true and what is the difference between this version and WinXP Home. Is there any major differences or have i wasted my money????
Any info would be much appreciated
Thanks, Stuart

My understanding is the only difference between an OEM and a boxed version is the box. So if it's a genuine product then it should be ok if it isn't installed on a Computer already. However I'm not sure if the Microsoft license permits resale as there is a lot of confusion on this subject.

Ordinarily, an OEM version comes with a "bit of kit", which can be as cheap as a mouse.
Also (I think) you do not have free access to Microsoft support, but you don't need it, you have this Forum, particulary Iain (Putasolutions).

As Joe said the main difference is the box. There is a little less documentation, but seeing as all the help you're ever going to need is around here that shouldn't worry you too much.
The Official line is that an OEM disk should be sold with a piece of Hardware, (normally a complete computer), but many retailers get around this by selling a mouse for a pound! You're going to tell me that you didn't get any hardware. Not to worry, Micro$oft aren't going to find out in a hurry.
As long as you have the cd key, basically what you have done is saved yourself a few bob and got a yourself a good operating system
LOL Maurice, you beat me to it but there are plenty of others on here who can give help too
