Rite this is strange. I recently had my broadband re-connected and i did the whole Computer Provisioning Logon for NTL and then my internet works fine, well almost i can load almost any internet page apart from www.google.co.uk and when i type in that URL i get the Computer Provisioning Logon page again. Im using Mozzila Firefox and when i go to the default google homepage at http://www.google.co.uk/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official it works fine and i can get on any other websites i have tried loads of random ones. Anyone help me on this strange problem? And if you think its releated to my networking problem please see http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/262536/an/0/page/0#262536
Thanks

You would be far better off installing a second NIC in your PC, connect that to the NTL box via ethernet cable and then try your laptop connection after you have run the ICS wizard. USB connections to NTL are not recommended.

Ok thank very much but this is another probelm for me, I have also tried to connect my NTL box straight into my NIC and for some reason it just doesn't work. It only seems to work with the USB. I also tryed a direct connection from my NTL box to my laptop NIC and that still didn't want to know. Maybe its because when i originally set the box up i set up so that the software thought the connection was via USB. But ever since then im not able to use it via my NIC. I think im going have to give the NTL numb nutts a call and listen them tell me how to renew my ip... and then finally me telling telling them "THAT MADE NO DIFFRENCE FOR THE THIRD TIME"

When you connect your PC to the NTL box via ethernet everything must be switched off and the power line removed from the NTL box before you start. Remove the USB cable and connect the box to the PC with the ethernet cable. Then switch on the NTL box ONLY and wait two minutes before powering up your PC. Go to Control Panel and click on Internet Options. Choose the Connections tab and make sure that there is nothing in the Dial Up box and that there is a mark in the radio button against 'Never dial a connection'. Now click on LAN settings and make sure that none of the entries on that page are ticked. Click OK to exit and then go to Device Manager and check that your NIC is enabled. Then try your connection.

A NIC is a Network Interface Card which is normally found at the back of a PC. You connect the NIC to the NTL box with an Ethernet cable.
I'm sorry but I don't understand your question about the TV. A NIC is for connections to the internet.

Hi,
I have just joined NTL and have experienced the same problem you have/had with Google on Firefox. If you use IE it can get to google.co.uk with no probems. Very strange! Did you manage to resolve the issue?
Thanks

I know this is a very old thread, but I had the same problem as the original poster today and this page came out high on most of my google searches. No one has actually said how to resolve the problem so I figured I might as well do it for anyone else who comes across here.
The problem is that the ntl logon page has been saved in the cache. Simply refreshing the page does the trick. Hope this helps.
