GO TO:
Your properties for the mail account.
Then click the Servers Tab
UNCLICK . logon using secure password authentication.

this should fix it hopefully.

all the indications i can find point to an invalid password, or password error. your sure you're putting in the right password.

I do not have BTOpenworld but the server address for a POP3 server does not look right. Should it not be pop.btopenworld.com for incoming mail and smtp.btopenworld.com for outgoing?

I know, but it is bt/yahoo, I'm not sure how they have set it up.

I suppose the easiest way to check is to look at the properties for the Main Identity, which I assume is working, and compare them with those for the other identity.

Have you just changed ISP's, or upgraded to Broadband ? The point being that BT now have web based mail. To collect this you have to log in to your BT Openworld/BT Yahoo web page. To receive mail to Outlook Express you have to pay for the privilege (£1.50p/m). I got the same error message when I selected send/receive. This happened when I changed ISPs and upgraded to Broadband. Have a look at this thread. Hope this helps.

£1.50 a month. Phone BT's helpline. 0800 800 060 is for Broadband, I'm sure they'll redirect you. Make sure you are not directed to a premium rate line.

Let's start again. Do you get the error message when you click on send/receive ?
In reply to:

Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.btopenworld.com', Server: 'mail.btopenworld.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Bad login', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 and a box comes up with my name and password.

When you get the box asking for a password, is the remember me feature greyed out ? Your set up is ok as regards POP3 mail.@btopenworld.com and smtp mail.@btopenworld.com.
How do you access your BT/Yahoo account at present for e-mail ? Do you go to that homepage then log-in ? If you do you are accessing web based mail.
For that mail to be directed to outlook BT charge you £1.50 per month for the privilege of receiving it to outlook. First you have to contact them and set up an account. As soon as this is activated you will find that the " remember me feature " password will not be "greyed out."
I hope this helps. As for incredimail most users will tell you it is more trouble than it's worth. If you decide to keep it good luck.
