hi, just wondering, i called BT to see if my exchange was able to get broadband and they said yes at 512Kb, not super fast but at least 10 times faster than dial up, excited with the news i got onto my isp AOL and they said NO exchange isnt able to supply it and bt are maybe spinning me a line about the supply to cover themselves, i then got back to bt and they said for deffinite that they could supply, i bit the bullet and said ok give me broadband and then, even although i would be a new customer, they said i would have to pay for the modem myself, i asked about any special offers of free modem or a free month but nothing, so im stuck on dial up at the mo until bt come up with some sort of deal to get new customers. a strange case between aol and bt of yes but no but.............cinz

thanx for that, apparently, i am only able to get broadband from bt, i managed to get a hold of a bt broadband modem for free, i will try wanadoo to see if they can provide me, but i would like to stay with aol.....cinz

it seems more and more people are saying the same thing, ive been with aol for about 4 years on dial up with no problems, is there something i should know about them before i persivere? ............cinz

The main problems with AOL is the amount of unncessarry software they try to get you to install.
Most users are finding they're getting logged off, and trouble reconnecting, you cannot use an alternate browser without suffering connection issues. Their prices seem higher than most other ISP's

thanx for that, your certainly right about all the software that has to be installed, some for safety, but with being dial up, it does seem to disconnect more, maybe it is time to make that change, new year new isp and all...........cinz
