Hi, i'm having serious problems with my current ISP, Plus.net, they have been cutting back the usage that falls within their 'fair usage' policy, it went from
NO fair usage policy
30GB usage between 4pm and 12am with 100GB total limit
then down to
20GB usage between 8am and 12 am with 100GB total limit
they didn't inform me of this change, so i get some email saying my usage is to high and that they're going to place usage shaping on my account!
So, i'm looking for an ISP with no restictions, or as few as possible, and wanted to know if anyone knew of any restrictions on AOLs service, and also to link to more details if possible... If anyone knows any ISP that doesn't have any restrictions please tell me as well! thanks everyone!

No AOL don't have any restrictions as such, but my friend has just left them as they dropped his speed (he tested independantly), he also had problems regularly disconnecting and then reconnection issues, he was sick of the extra software that they got him to install prior to getting online (which you may be aware) he also had issues just because he wanted to use Firefox over the AOL browser.
I think most ISP's have restrictions, however I believe Freedom2Surf don't although I cannot vouch as I don't subscribe to them.

I'm afraid it all comes down to money: If you want unlimited bandwidth, you will have to pay for it - even the cheapest AOL package is £3 per month more than you're paying with PlusNet, and a quarter of the speed.
Having said that, if I'd signed up to an unlimited service which was then cut in the way you indicate, I'd be mightily hacked off, especially if left with costs to pay to get out of the contract. I'm with PlusNet's Premier BB service, if they restrict that like the Plus service I'll be straight out of there.

Hiya redders!
TalkTalk Broadband has unlimited downloads. It was subject to a fair use policy, but cannot see mention of it on their site. Not too bad on price too if you get your phoneline and calls through them too.

I have used TalkTalk Broadband for just over a year now with no problems. Never had to use their helpline so cannot comment on how helpful they are in a desperate situation.

AOL says it has no download limits, but i had loads of trouble with them dropping my line and i was on the Platinum service. I'm with BT-Yahoo now, yes there is a limit, cant remember what, but i've never hit it yet, and the service is always on. It hasnt dropped me yet.

AOL no limits. They provide me with a great service, but if you ever want customer service from them then i wouldn't waste your time contacting them. Providing you master their software you will be fine. There is one risk taking AOL though, it all falls down to where you live. Im on AOL Platinum and i get a great service no interruptions and i have used as much as 300gb in a week before no problem. But some people have connection problems with AOL and im 90% sure its due to where they live. I have helped so many people with this software. AOL always blame the PC but some problems are down to them. I now just ring the MD of AOL UK these days and air my concerns with her, and i have to say its sorted within the hour.

I concur with jayboi2005's post 100% If you can master the AOL software issues, you rarely get more than an Hour downtime unless there is a Server Issue 
All my relatives /Pals on AOL are satisfied with the service (All sorts of Packages)and they live at up to 10 miles from exchanges (Pal in rural Leicestershire running Broadband who is going "wireless" soon)
