Wanadoo

Hi everyone,

My mum's OS is Windows 98 and she has Wanadoo Broadband Standard.

The problem is that even though Broadband is switched on all the time, she has to click on the modem link to get it started when she logs in. Sometimes, she cannot get a connection, and at other times it closes down after about 1 hour. She then has to restart the computer and repeat the process.

Any ideas why this is?

Thanks

That's how you connect to Wanadoo, as to why she doesn't always get a connection, baffles me as does the connection closing after an hour.

Two ways to solve this, either via a router (cost) so that she's always online, or, put the wanadoo connection into the startup folder, so that the computer connects at boot up.

Hi Mouse,

Thanks for your quick reply

How do I put the connection into the start up folder?

Presumably there is a short cut icon on your mum's desktop which she clicks on when she connects?
1.RIGHT click and hold on this.
2. Drag it over to the Start button. Don't let go, just hover over the button for a couple seconds. The Start menu should open.
3. Now, (still holding the mouse button down), move up to the Programs menu. The Programs menu should open.
4. Finally, move your mouse to the Startup folder (it should be underlined). Again, point to it for a second and it should open up. Drop the shortcut into it and you're all set. Make sure you drop the shortcut into the Startup Menu and NOT into the Programs menu by accident.
