I've got a 1.1GHz PC running Windows XP Pro, and we've bought the kidz a PC for Christmas (shooosh don't tell them!). I want to install it in their bedroom, and share our ADSL Broadband connection with the new PC. A friend has recommended the Netgear DG834GT router. But, it seems to have fairly poor reviews, and it dosen't come with a PCI card.
I should be grateful therefore for any pointers on a good package that would give me an ADSL Broadband router, and associated gear to put into the second PC to enable wireless connectivity. And with four kidz, money is an object. Ta very much.

As money is important is it absolutely essential that you have a wireless setup? It will cost about £80 for a modem/router and PCI wireless card whereas you could do the same thing with wires for about £30.

Fraid so, the route from our downstairs PC to the boyz bedroom is extremely tortuous for laying wires (laminated flooring, who needs it!!).. I have about £100 for setting up the wireless connection, but naturally that means I need to get some kit that will work first time. Are there any boxed sets of router and PC card in that bracket that you could recommend. Ta very much.

Sorry but I've not used wireless connections so can't recommend any specific make. You could have a look at this for your modem/router and two of these for the PC's.
When you set the system up first time round do it with the two PCs connected by an ethernet cable to the router. Once it's working that way you can convert to wireless.
