Looking at getting Zen ( http://www.zen.co.uk/ ) as my new ISP. Will see how easy AOL let me go. After all i have been with AOL for over 15 months. The only trouble i'm having is AOL connectivity keeps dropping my line, they now charge for phone suppport, unless i take there telephone line, and there live chat help is crap, if its not on a cribe sheet it doesnt exist!

Well I use Demon for my broadband.I was with them for @15 months and was lured away by UK Online with promises of higher speeds and lower prices...OMG! what a mistake ,total shambles from beginning to end. Got a refund after threats of legal action and went to One Tel Another huge mistake, despite their contract I was put on the wrong package ,charged yet another price band and the DSL connection continually failed or connected to a BT server and I could not use the net at all....Indian call centre ...accent so thick you can barely understand them at all..." If it is connected it doesn't matter what DNS server ,have a nice day" click!
After 57! emails and 30+ phone calls I eventually got rid of them. I then moved house ,every ISP I contacted said that it would take at least four weeks to get a connection. I went back to Demon who still had all my old account details, within ten minutes I had my account restarted, two days later the paperwork and welcome pack arrive and they quoted a maximum 13 day lead time. 6 days after my call the adsl was up and running and it never misses a beat. The sevice and support are excellent, truly 5 star.......my only regret? I moved away in the first place.

To keep everyone updated. Yes i was gonna go to Zen, but with a £40 activation fee and a lack of a new modem i decided to goto BT Yahoo. £29.99 a month for there 2Mb services with a 40GB download limit (i should never hit that limit i hope). get a discount of £1 for the first 3 months, free wireless modem/router and upto £200 of a laptop £150 desktop via a voucher after my line is activated. So on the phone to AOL. Call center..not too bad could understand him but i'm glad he offered to email my MAC code. only took 10 mins to get the MAC code. He offered to drop my payment form £29.99 to £24.99 and send me a wireless modem/router. I would have to take out another 12 months contract, he didnt tell me this straight away, i had to ask. However the problem is with there customer services and AOL connectivity software (which he said the new modem would solve). I decided to continue with BT Yahoo. So the MAC code will be email to me within the next 48Hrs. Time for me to reflect on there offer i suppose.

Phone Demon and ask what they can do....
They have 2meg broadband at only £19.99 per month and NO LIMITS, they also have a full home business 2meg with unlimited email addresses, static ip number,no download limit @£24 .99 pm.which is what I took. There was no set up fee at all .

Got my new package today from BT Yahoo. Installed the modem/router connected to the internet first go. Norton 2005 gave me loads of trouble when i went to set the wireless PCI card up, but after i removed Norton everything went well. Glad to see the back os AOL. So it would appear that its not that difficult to switch ISP's if you have a MAC code.

I've used Zen in the past and they were great, no problems and top speed 24x7 only downside is they are a little more expensive then most. I'm currently with F2S (Freedom2Surf) 1Mb unlimited. They are also really good and haven't had any problems at all

I'm with f2s to they are great I'm on their £14.99 2Gig capped package 2Mb (8 when available) Service with the option to increase capping limit at £1.50 per Gig. I'd reccomend them to anyone. Had enough of the big guns!

I'm with PlusNet. Currently 2Mbps (upped to 8Mbps if I'm within farting distance of my exchange), no download cap, and £15 per month.

I wonder why they've put this thread on the Dial-up internet access forum? Madeline.

This thread died in November but was resurrected in February (not sure why). I'll close it.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
