hi folks

i recently updated to broadband and went from virgin dial up to virgin broadband. my system seems to be running ok but for a couple of problems.

1. i have to unplug my modem from my usb hub brfore i boot up otherwise it does not boot up.

2. i am getting a runtime error after i boot up, it says; Autoupdator run-time error '424' object required.

3. i can't connect to the net if i use the i'explore icon on the bottom left of my taskbar, i have to use the connect to virgin broadband link.

granted none of them are major issues but collectivly they are annoying.

i am using windows 98 se with zone alarm and norton antivirus

michael

Hi Mick
Not having experience of the Virgin BB Setup but having done several on AOL
I think what is causing this is the Internet Explorer is treating it as a Dialup system still
Suggest altering setting in Internet Explorer (Connections tab ) to Never dial a connection and removing entries to your dialup modem if they are displayed?
and of course removing all traces of the dialup modem wiring and internal modem if fitted ?

1) I wouldn't use a USB hub to connect a BB modem. It should be connected direct to a PC port.

2) I would imagine the autoupdater error is being caused by the fact that you don't have a modem connected at startup and the software therefore can't run. Should be fixed by (1) above.

3) Try deleteing the icon in the Quick Launch toolbar, then right click and drag the Virgin icon into the toolbar. Release the button and choose 'Copy'.
