Go to this page and download the driver for your camera
Make sure that your camera is unplugged then install the software
Once the software is installed, re-insert the camera
You will now find that the camera is recognised in Windows Explorer as a removeable

For some unknown reason, XP takes cameras and webcams as two different categories Webcam are cameras Digital cameras are removeable Storage disks (this is because the card in the camera can be used for a multitude of uses
If you go to Start | Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer You will find the Praktika will be listed as an extra drive

Can I make a suggestion?
I would get a card reader to transfer your pictures, not only will it transfer your pictures quicker, you would't need to mess around plugging the camera in

I would appreciate some help but its poser as I have been unable to get help from Mercury .com the problem I have purchased two web cams and cannot get them to work the main thing is the serial numbers I first had a web cam Quickpixs insalled and working unfortunatly I left the batteries in the connecters corroded and broke off thus rendering it u/s so uninstlled it,I purchased a Aipteck Web/Cam but then had problem when I got to enter the Product Serial No it would not reconise the new SE No and never worked properly I could take photos and download them Ok but the Webcam part was frozen with a split screen. thought I would swop it for a Mercury 3 in 1 Pocket Cam so again uninstalled the Aiptek But the same thng happens although both cameras where uninstalled san checked several times the Serial No for the Mercury will not be acepted but here is the real teaser if I enter the code for the first Cam Quickpix it is accepted and goes on then to load the Aiptek as this is uninstalled it does not work just says camera not connected. If any one can find my problem then they must be a genios but I know there are some very good experts on here so thanks guys oh I am a silver server and not that good at PC.s so give it to me gently please Thanks
