I'd be really, really grateful if anyone out there could help me. I know next to nothing about modem, ISPs and Ethernet cables so please forgive any mistakes.
WHAT I WANT TO DO: Run the Xbox Live service in my living room on a direct connection. Ideally I'd like to run xbox live through an ethernet modem to the phone socket without having my laptop on at the same time. (I don't mind connecting / disconnecting cables, not being wireless etc)
WHAT I HAVE: The Xbox, Live account, a laptop running on Wannado broadband and modem (non-Ethernet, I think) supplied by Wannado.
MY PROBLEMS / WHAT I NEED HELP ON: 1, First and foremost, can I run Xbox Live without the laptop on? 2, I'm pretty sure I need a new modem with the right Ethernet ports. With that in mind, what type / brand is best and would I need to configure this for Xbox Live via my lap top? How would I configure? 3, Wannado customer support says I need 'Wireless & Talk' and their 'Live Box' to run Xbox Live properly. Is this true and is their particular 'Live Box' modem really only the way forward?
Phew! Hope that explains my situation and, as I said, I would be very gratefiul for any input. Cheers.
