Hi
i have two computers running the same version of windows XP SP2.
i want to install a wireless network so i bought two USB wireless network dongles. I installed the software for the dongles on both pc's, then it tells you to insert the dongles. i did so on both pc's and precided to install the dongle drivers. after doing this, one of the pc's brought up the "wireless network connection" icon in the windows tray, and the other pc did not register that a wireless dongle had been installed. i have tried re-installing drivers and so on... still no luck. any ideas?

Have you tried switching the dongles to see if one is broken? Try switching usb ports. Go into device manager to see if it has been installed. In my experience some wireless adapters come with outdated drivers which will work on some systems and not others. Try finding up-to-date drivers on the net. You may also need a bios upgrade. Be VERY CAREFUL if you do this however cos you could srew up your bios a chip and have to get another one (urgh, i know). You should be able to find info and bios upgrades on your motherboard company's website.
