Webuser Forums: plz help me, small but annoying problem

Hi there, okay i was wondering if anyone here could help me please?

Okay ive had soo many computer problems in the past, general stuff here and there to major stuff, well ive been able to get round most problems and solving them, but ive got a problem atm, which im basicaly clueless on lol.

okay the problem:

I boot my pc , everythings fine, you can do everything, load anythin etc etc, when i log into the internet, for about 5 mins or somethin you cant do anything, this happens a few seconds after i connect to the internet. You can open folders and everything , just when you run something , even bringing up IE or msn wont come up. So i have to spam Ctrl + alt + del, for a while until everything pops up and then everythings fine from then on. Its just irritating><

Im not sure what the problem is and i dont think its a virus or anything, its somethin else so i was wondering if anyone experianced on this board would have an idea whats causing it?

This started when i 'fixed' my home network, so the cause might be somewhere there. Im on a dial up broadband of 1MB connection, and my pc is networked to another pc. The problem occours everytime i conect to the internet. Also im on Windows XP home edition without SP2.
