I've been reading the latest web user about setting up an ad hoc network. I want to connect my pc and laptop so I can share my bb connection. I don't mind if they sit on the same desk but thought that wireless would be good anyway because I take my laptop to university with me and could use the wireless facility there as well. My questions are probably pretty basic!! Firstly, how do I know if windows service pack 2 has been loaded on my pc? Window updates stuff automatically so is it possible it's done the service pack without me being too aware of it??? Secondly, I know my laptop is wireless enabled but how do I know if my pc is? On the control panel it has an icon named 'wireless network setup'. Does this mean it's wireless enabled? My laptop has a book that came with it and gives all sorts of information but the pc didn't come with anything so convenient. I have doubted the wisdom of buying it through tiny now but that's another issue. I hope that by knowing these two things I'll be able to follow the instructions web user gives for creating an ad hoc connection. Any help much appreciated. LT

Go to Start | Run
Type in msinfo32.exe
Click OK
It should tell you in System Summary in Version in the right hand side as to whether you have SP2 installed
You will have a wireless adaptor card with an aerial attached to it at the back, or a USB wireless adaptor installed, and it will show in device manager as a wireless device in Network adaptors
