Hi thanks in advance for help
I have read Tushy’s log but it doesn’t answer my question.
Right here we go.
I have two desk top computers; I have a Linksys Wireless-G router. I am on NTL and the modem connects straight to Router and then using Ethernet connection it is connected to this my main PC. My other desk top has a belkin wireless card in it. I can connect to the Interenet with both computers with no problems,
My problem is that I can’t link the two computers in any way; I can’t share files or printers.
I ran the wizard on my main computer and then again on my second but on the second computer I can’t complete the wizard. I have the correct network name and WEP/WPA key.
I have tried to view what devices are available on wireless network but windows tell that another program may be enabled to configure the network. When I click on the option to change this and then view again it brings me right back to say that another program may be enabled to configure the network.
A speech bubble comes up at the bottom comes up to say that more than one network is available, click to view but it then says that another program may be enabled to configure the network……..again.
I have switched of windows firewalls as I use Norton and I have not been prompted about any connections or intrusions.
Any help is much appreciated.

That's a good one. Let's have a look at a few things. Can you go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and click on Network Connections. What are the names of the various connections that show and what is their Status?
If you have a Local Connection available please right click on it and choose Properties. What are the names of the stuff in the box headed 'This connection uses the following items'?

I have since tried to use the wireless network wizard, but this time I was able to use a flash drive that was not available before but I got the following message.
ERROR - Microsoft Windows XP - FRONTROOM (Computer, Depending on the wireless software running on this computer, the Wireless Network Setup Wizard might not work. For details, see article 871122 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base on Microsoft.com.)
I am going to read up on it as it advises but if you know what it means in plain English it would be helpful.
Thanks for your patience.

NTL modem plugged into Linksys wireless router, into main PC. then a wireless card in second PC. Then run wireless network wizard?
Have read Microsoft knowledge base on this issue still no joy:(

Can we go back to the various connections shown in Control Panel.
Quote:

Are they three separate devices? If so what is the Status of each one?

These are not separate services, I think the Ethernet is just a description on its connection type As far as I know this is working fine as it always has done, and I am on the net now. I pressed to configure but didn't change any thing on the Realtek and it gave the message everything is working fine.

All sorted now. a mate of mine that built the computer for me had set up a network on the computer when he built it so he could transfer some programs onto my computer. this net work was still on computer and conflicted with the one I was trying to set up.
Thank you.
