Hi people,
I am looking for some directions this time. No Problems to report or unable to resolve. Well, I have bought myself a Sony DW-U14A DVD-RW Internal IDE Drive. The thing is that the drive stands out like a sore thumb, my decor is silver and grey where as my new drive is BEIGE. Should have taken more time choosing. I would like to maintain the same decor, therefore i am looking for some directions on where i could buy universal facia's for my DVD-RW drive and also my Artec WRR-52X 16xDVD-ROM 48xCD-ROM Drive. Most of the ones i have found are for people with a lot of time on their hands to fine tune the facia's by means of modifing.
Thanks again

Hi Greysts,
Thanks for your reply, but i have already looked at the cool facia's and apparently they do not go well with most drives even more so the Sony models. I have found a site where someone is completing a project and if you look at the case it is the Same Case as Mine but how do you manage to press the eject button???
I thought he might have left a gap between the facia and the casing so that the full facia acts as one big button when depressed.
Have you any more suggestions?
Thanks, Stuarty

He clearly isn't worried about pressing the buttons from the outside so he must be using software to open the drive door. If you right click on the CD drive in My Computer you get an eject option and of course you can push the drive back manually. I must say the finished job does look smart and you can use just about any material to mask the facia.
The other choice is simply to use paint. You can get a small air brush driven by tins of compressed air for use with Humbrol enamel paints. They are used by model makers to paint up plastic parts. Provided you remove the drive from the PC and mask it up properly you should be able to get some nice results.

Isn't that going a bit too far ? There's shortcuts and there's well..........He must have software that boots up the pc when he opens the door to enter the room the pc is in. Then has he got software that opens the door ?................sounds like modern Andy Capp................lol

You forget how far an artist will go to ensure beauty and loveliness in his computing experience. You and I might think beige is perfectly acceptable but an artist needs something more out of life.

I've got to agree with you greysts, it's all about self satisfaction and being proud to show off your artistic tallents to friends and Colleagues. We all change our decor in the places we live in ( well the women tell us to ) so why not our loveable computers. It's amazing what the mind can open up for you. Thanks anyway for your input and will let you know how i get on.

Hello again
I have accomplished my objective in making a new facia. I can open the cd drawer by right clicking and selecting Eject, but i am unable to find a command that will allow me to close the cd drawer without having to manually push it in. Does anyone know if it is possible to enter a RUN command line to close it and create a shortcut of the command line
