Hi,
I have recently upgraded to broadband, since then when i try to shutdown my computer at night, the comp freezes when "windows is shutting down" appears, I have tried disconnecting the internet connection but it still happens, to stop it freezing i have just been turning it off at the plug, which i no is bad for it, never had this problem before i had broadband so i think the 2 things must be related......
I am running win98 se
Help on this matter would be most appreciated....
Thanks

Work your way through this document from Microsoft and see if that helps.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

I used to run several machines with win98 and they all eventually got into this state (nothing to do with bb) where the shutdown froze. I spent some fruitless time trying all the fixes I could find and eventually accepted that win98 does this.
Every 6 months or so I would wipe and re-install windows which would clear it but it always returned.
Like you i would just turn off computer with switch on machine or plug and I never did any damage.
my advice is relax or, never turn your machine off
