chat pervert catching site, with of course resources for parents
      #221909 - Wed Sep 14 2005 12:47 AM

http://www.catchingperverts.co.uk/
we are a new site, that will offer reviews of safe surf software, and also 'out' chat perverts by p[osting their chat logs to 'minors' (who they want to meet, and behave innapropriately to say the least) for all to see, including phone numbers, pics, and anything else they tell us.
yes the police are aware of us, and yes, they are being supportive (we have a couple of cases pending, which we wont put on the site, incase it hurts a prosecution)
thanks, jim
p.s. if i messed up the clickable link at the top, could someone post it here again?

The link works!
I like what you're doing, anything that helps to catch these evil men is fine by me. I hope you get the site completed soon. I've got 3 young grandchildren and I worry about this sort of thing in relation to them, although I hate it that any child is taken in by those perverted monsters. At least my daughter and son-in-law are careful to supervise the children's on-line activities and they've got some kind of parental control program (can't remember which one).

I can't remember what else I said in my post. Did I say something bad? If so, I'm sorry.

You might also remember that your wording "to catch these evil men" is a little offensive to the male readers who maybe reading this forum.
"Perverted monsters" are not always male Madeline.

true, we have female involvement, but so far it must be said that this is through a male chat.

What a great idea for a site, and the idea about putting their handle live to see if they are online is a good idea. It's just a shame that they can so easily get a new one. Perhaps not revealing that they have been 'busted' so that rather than sending them to a new ID people can steer clear of them as they will probably continue to use their existing ID?

Also, it would be more appealing not to have to scroll through the mug shots.

Keep up the good work.

thanks, the ones on the site, that we have busted are the ones that we talked to before we got certain authorities involved with the site, so, we have a lot of chat logs saved that we will be dealing with using those channels, when an outcome is reached, we will then post them:)
as for the scrolling, yeah, i agree, maybe a drop down menu to compliment it?
thanks for your comments!!!
jim

I'm not sure why, but having your <iframe> height set to 100% works in Internet Explorer, but when viewed in Firefox it appears as a tiny window, instead of a tall window, as in IE.

Who knows! But it looks a bit offputting in IE. Like looking at a room through a letterbox.

While your site is clearly a work in progress, it might be best to not have the text in the links bar which don't do anything (Contact Us and Resources for Parents). It makes the site look a bit unfinished.

Also, not sure why you've used an iframe for your contact page. Again, look at it in Firefox, and you get a scroll bar floating in the middle of the page, which looks rather strange:

http://www.catchingperverts.co.uk/help.htm

It would seem easier just to put the HTML for the form on the "help.htm" page, rather than have it linked through to the contact page via the iframe.

Also, the big gap between your title image and navigation bar seems a bit large.

Anyway, apologies for the essay. Good luck with your site.

Jim

no, jim, thanks for your input!
thats why i posted here my friend:)
i must say, i am a designer, rather than a html god, so i may never know how to fix certain things, i wasnt aware of the problems in firefox at all, so thanks for that, i will download it and test it out.
i have tested the site for macs, and all seems ok.
i think i definately need a drop down menu as well as the iframe.
image the time it took me to figure out iframes, and now they dont work!
bummer!!!!!
jim

bumpyride's right. I had a look at that page in FF and IE. In IE, there's a greyed out part for a scroll bar down the side of the query box which would come into action if the query is long enough as you'd expect. In FF, the scroll bar goes down the whole side of the "Ask a question..." part. You'll see what we both mean if you download FF and try it there. By the way, it isn't "querie", it's "query"!
One good thing, going to your site via this forum and using IE, made me remember one of my main reasons for using an alternative browser. IE was soooo slow!

That's good to know. I hope there are more sites like yours around in other countries. It's a global problem as we know all too well.
