Using Windows 98, Internet Explorer 6, Outlook Express 6:
The instructions for importing an OE address book state: Select Tools, Address Book Select File, Import, Address Book(WAB)
However! - when I select File, the Import and Export options are grayed out/unavailable. Why? And how do I get them to be available? Thanks for any help you can offer!
(the Help file is absolutely no help what so ever!)

As your trying to Import an address book, can we assume you have actually exported one in the past to start with?
If you have and you can't remember where you placed it, do a search for files called .wab and it should locate it for you.
This won't help with the greyed out issue, but also have a look down this path . . . . C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book with the extension .wab which should show you the address book you have currently active.

You've added a bit too much to the instructions for importing an Address Book. Try this.
Open Outlook Express, click on File, Import, Addess Book and select the location of your WAB file.

The easiest option is to locate the 'wab' file of the Address Book you are trying to import and use it to replace/overwrite the Address Book file in the default location for OE. You can do this using copy/paste without need of the Import function.
