Everytime when I want to open an internet page sooner or later I receive this type of message: “Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL (or MFC42.DLL or FLASH.OCX or INETCOMM.DLL or URLMON.DLL or “unknown error”…more and more files every day) Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restart your computer”.
After this message I have to “close” and the entire opened window dissapears.
I have on my computer Windows Millennium version 4.90.3000 and Internet Explorer 5.50.4134.0100. I went to Google, try to find “repair Internet Explorer 5” (thinking that the Internet is the one which makes me so many troubles). I saw there 2 different ways: 1) enter in Control Panel – Add/Remove programs – Internet Explorer 5 – Repair….but there were no IE in Add/Remove programs 2) enter in Start-Run-wrote a file copied from support.microsoft…there supposed to find a window with the option “repair IE” but I couldn’t do it, because did not let me put a bifa.
Finally I went in Tools menu from IE – Windows update – and by this moment I updated only the IE…new version 6.0.2800.1106
BUT…I still have problems. The error messages don’t stop appear everytime when I try to open an internet page (well sometimes I can read a mail or something but no more than few minutes).
Did you understand mu huge problem? What can I do? Please, help…
Ileana.

The repair Internet Explorer option is only seen when you click on the entry in the Add/Remove Programs List as a message box
Upgrading to I.E 6.0 SP1(latest version) will auto repair the files anyway and overwrite the 5.5 program Choose your language version from this page It's going to take a bit of time to download on dial up Visit the leechget site @ www.leechget.net and download the download manager program which is free copy and paste the download address and the download is saved as a separate file until it is complete and you can have a crash or go on Vacation or what ever and restart the download and it continues fron where it stopped and when it is ready to Install, the file is the complete program .If you download without this there is a good chance that you'll see nothing if you have a crash I am on Broadband and still use this program to download very large Programs (500 MB or more in size!) and I haven't had a missed byte thanks to Leechget

I made all the updates from Windows update and I still have problems... I've also done what you advised me BedstorefromAP... I don't know what else to do. Do you?

If it is a setting mistake In Internet Explorer Right click on the Internet Explorer blue "E" icon and click on Properties to open the Internet options box Click on the Advanced tab then there is 1 button underneath this list which says "Restore Defaults" press this, then press the Apply then the OK buttons to save and close the box Any change? If not then I think you should submit a HijackThis log to the forum with the same name (instructions to do this are in the top posting) They will rule out is this is a corrupt settings problem or a spyware problem? Label it Internet Explorer Settings problem? And the readers may spot something to delete that may be contributing to this issue ?
