Hello I have a small but anyoying problem with the connection speed showing on the small icons next to my clock display. My ISP is BT and am using their 2Mb connection however, when I hover my curser over the icons, its telling me its a 12.0Mbps connection.
I connect to the net using a Netgear ADSL modem router DG632 with my home network running of the spare port to my second PC.
Any suggestions please on how to get the correct speed showing ?
It sounds like this router only has a Wireless Protocol of: 802.11b, and not 802.11g. You will only get a speeds of up to 12MBPS, (8MBPS if your lucky) and that's only a theoretical speed.
You'll need to upgrade to the latter to enjoy a faster connection which will give up to 125MBPS.
are you getting good download speed of 240kb for you're 2 meg line ?. if so i would not worry to much about it .i had a similar problem with a icon while i was with telewest 2 meg line and it did not afect me downloads i guess its just anoying int it lol .
dont worry about it......its prolly cause you are using router....its the max speed the router can support......and you should be happy its more than what it should be:P
