Hey Pawel, I can't answer your question about aol, but am going through a very similar situation...Hotmail INCREDIBLY hard to access..... I am sure it is the all invasive software that comes with AOL. I am trying to find a way to just use the server addressess (pop3 etc) without using the browser.
AOL doesn't like anyone doing that, apparently, and seems to want to DOMINATE !!
I'll post my findings as I learn more....good luck mate....Cha88y

Seems you have a 2 fold prob here 1) You have the AOL dialler program still in Situ? Poss cure go into Internet Explorer Options (Connections Tab) and delete the AOL entry and change the Default to your current ISP (check also that all references to AOL in the Add remove section of the Control Panel are uninstalled) 2nd item Could be a secure site setting problem? (difficult to spot) Are you seeing ActiveX and some Java errors as well? Download this small program(link in quote below) and run it offline and see if you can regain control of the sites you have issues with (A Cookie/Tempfile clearance is a good idea before doing this) Will have to log in everywhere but things will have returned back to normal ?(fingers crossed) This is from the post I made 23rd March: Quote:
I have had NO access to Gmail since late January on this computer I have been seeing Nonstop 404 type error pages and Suggestions about ActiveX failure Somebody posted a site which had some interesting links ( contents a bit skinny?) And I spotted a link to regain access to secure sites (about 235K) I downloaded it and ran a Bat routine of Half a dozen lines Logged into Gmail and it started up Perfectly Now I'll have to see if M$ AutoUpdates works again and If I can get into Netscape? (they went down at the same time) Worth a try if you are frustrated with this issue? There are 2 versions 1 for Win 2000 & XP the other for Windows 98 & ME You'll find them listed on the Utilities link and the Secure Sites Fix section(2 links) www.webfixes.co.uk/
Full thread here (I posted it on here somewhere but I lost track of it) Run the Crap Cleaner Program to get rid of the Pointing Nowhere tags in Windows and the Registry www.ccleaner.com should give your computer a speed boost once all this is out of the Way It has an uninstall link as well that duplicates the Control Panels (but don't use it if you want to access a link with a repair option ...Its a delete only! )

This is the XP/2000 version www.websupportpage.co.uk/programs/secfixwin2000xp.bat and use this for 98/Me: www.websupportpage.co.uk/programs/secfixwin98me.bat And run the Crapcleaner program afterwards to get rid of the "Bits" leftover www.ccleaner.com

No Harm in submitting a HijackThis log to the Forum of the same name (read the top pinned post for instructions) The people there maybe able to spot where it is being blocked? Label it "security issues (sites blocked)" and that'll give them an idea what to look for?. Do not post it here it will get padlocked or deleted and most definitely get ignored

As I've mentioned in the 'belkin' thread, have you updated the software in your router?.

hey ..the problem you have is what most aol users wil have when using router.....first which router you are using....i have a bt voyager 2100 wireless.....try and find how to change your routerd MTU settings...they wil be on 1500 change it to either 1400 or 1492 and it should work...also re install the aol software if you havnt got it....and in the address bar type in hotfix...go to KEYWORD and it will enable third party conneections....if this work try installing firefox as your browser...it should work tht way...the only reason hotmail and ebay are not opening is because they are secured websites. hope this helps...if you have more problems lemme know on xxxxxxxxxxxxx
