Virtual memory
      #20984 - Sat Nov 08 2003 01:54 PM

I keep getting the following message appear on my monitor.
"Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file".
This message appears about every 2 or 3 days.
I am running windows XP. The computer is only 6 months old and I have 85% free space available.
Can I do anything to stop these messages.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to this site and it will show you how to increase it.
When you do a good deed, get a receipt, in case heaven is like the IRS running xp,256Mb

Hi,

My brother had the same prob. I suggest that by ticking the option to " allow windows to manage Virtual memory" or words to that effect as it's a while since i did it, rather than specifing a Mb limit will cure the prob once and for all as memory is not a prob.

He has not moaned since so all must be well.

If you don't want windows to look after the virtual memory:

System Properties | Performance | Virtual Memory Check "Let me specify my own virtual memory settings" and set minimum and maximum to the same value.

If you have got 64Mb or less of memory then it should be 2.5 times your amount of memory.

If you have got over 64Mb of memory then set it at 1.5 times the amount of memory.
