AOL restricts me from using websites!
      #206238 - Fri Jul 08 2005 04:43 PM

Hi,

I'm new to this, but I have searched my problem already and cannot find a post that will solve my problem. I have a Netgear Wireless adapter that connects to the internet though AOL. I have one pc and one laptop connected to it, both use Windows XP, SP2. It is currently set up so that we can use the internet with internet explorer as well as AOL, however, about 2 weeks ago, I tried to access the internet using Internet explorer, but certain websites such as ebay or hotmail do not load up. They work using AOL but it crashes a lot of the time, so its an inconvenience using this. This problem occurs on both computers, and therefore, I believe that this is either an AOL or wireless adapter issue. I have checked the firewall settings, tried to manually alter the wireless adapter settings to allow for the specific websites to be seen, but this does not seem to work. Can anyone help? Thanks in advanced!

Have you tried the Windows update site as well? This is a secure link
If this is producing an error or crash/unaccessible ? Ditto Gmail and MSN if you are a user of these services? Or are you also getting ActiveX warning messages
Only 1 suggestion for a "fix" at this time
Go to www.webfixes.co.uk click "Downloads" on the menu then locate Windows 2000 & XP security fix and install/run the tiny "Bat file" program... restart your computer. You should have your secure sites all working again?
I had over a month with this issue until I stumbled across this program by luck
Was resetting Security controls and reinstalling programs with No Joy

i take it you are using a wireless router...change the mtu settings of the router to 1400 or 1492 and you will now be open all website..it doesnt open them because they are secured websites...

I'm using a Netgear ADSL Firewall Router DG834G. I have tried Mozilla Firefox and it does not do the trick either.
