New spyware website
      #206146 - Fri Jul 08 2005 07:21 AM

After a lot of great feedback following my spyware website in webuser, I decided to develop it further, take the plunge and host my site properly. Here is the link.

Nice looking site you have, only one thing I have noticed.. your background size is set at 1024x120 which is absolutly fine in my browser, as that is what resolution I use on my computer, but for others in a higher resolution it may look an eyesore when the background tiles itself as the yellow sidebar will re-appear in the middle of the screen. Changing the image to 1280x120 should be pretty easy to do in any paint proggie and will be better for a much wider range of users viewing your site, I know its a pain in the ass changing all the pages over again to the new image, but theres a lot of users now above the 1024 resolution mark. Site content is A1 - well done, excellent, keep up the good work

thanks for the feedback Im still new to all this and trying to find my feet as yet, I shall try to look at the compatibility issue you've highlighted. I'd like to know what other users of the site have found on different resolutions.

thanks kevin

Very nice, Kevin! I like it a lot, although your other site was pretty good too. I didn't have time to go all through your new site in detail, But I didn't see a-squared Free there. It's an excellent malware scanner and remover, as I mentioned before, so I hope you add it sometime.
A couple of nit-picks! On your Homepage, in the first paragraph you say ...how it effects you. Please change this to "affects". Effect is a noun, to affect is a verb. Also, there's a typo, phising should be phishing. These things sound trivial, but they can make a difference as to whether a site appears professional or not. People are sometimes suspicious of spelling or grammar mistakes, as these often crop up in dodgy e-mails/programs.
You might be interested in this BT page. There's a free download of a program which will notify you if your modem tries to dial an unauthorised number. I think it may only be for people who have BT as their telephone provider, but I'm not entirely clear on this.
Anyway, I like it and Good Luck!
Madeline.

Fixed all the problems you suggested Madeline, thanks for the tips. If you see any more typos let me know. Im still trying to iron out some issues, as you will have seen. How does it look in your browser?

thanks again Kevin

Hi Kevin,
It looks fine in my browser (FF). I've just remembered to delete your old site and Bookmark the new one! On your "Interesting Links" page, you describe a-squared as "free complimentary spyware program". Several things:
1. Change "complimentary" to "complementary". They have entirely different meanings!
2. At least describe it as anti-spyware, otherwise people might wonder what they're getting.
3. a-squared is more than an anti-spyware program; this is what they say on their website:

a-squared is a complementary product to antivirus software and desktop firewalls on MS Windows computers. Antivirus software specializes in detecting classic viruses. Many available products have weaknesses in detecting other malicious software (Malware) like Trojans, Dialers, Worms and Spyware (Adware). a-squared fills the gap that malware writers exploit.

Maybe it should go under "Extras" as it scans for and removes all kinds if malware, such as Trojans, diallers and worms as well as spyware. What do you think?
I liked your link to here "Cool Magazine". Nice one!
Madeline.

I must admit I struggled to get a one liner for this one Madeline, so Ive decided to list it under other anti-spyware software, with an appropriate tag.

thanks kevin

I like the new tag, Kevin. It's a great site and I think that, as time goes by, a lot of people will have good reason to be grateful for it.
