Custom Error Pages with .htaccess

I have been trying to create some custom error pages for my website. I have tried to set it up so when you get a 404 error (page not found) using a .htaccess file with code

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.paulbradley.fslife.co.uk/404.htm

saved in a text file (in notepad). I uploaded it in ASCII format and changed it's name to .htaccess but it dosen't seem to work.

I have the domain www.paulbradley.biz and it uses webdivert to go to www.paulbradley.fslife.co.uk could this be a problem? If it is it should still work if you type www.paulbradley.fslife.co.uk/gobbledegook though?

Yeah, I've checked that. Is it always possible or does your domain server have somehting enabled.

Your web host will need to enable it by setting AllowOverride
