lost Outlook Express & Word
      #204549 - Sat Jul 02 2005 02:58 PM

I was recently bombarded with 65 Trojans in one hit, and have since removed them all BUT in my panic to delete the Trojans I appear to have deleted or placed somewhere else, my entire file of Outlook Express and Word. And cannot find either.

I can start the computer with my old password and user name (as administrator) and when it has booted up I am guided to register to connect to the Internet etc. as a new user.

I can log in as another administrator user (initially I set up “Dad” as a precaution to this type of problem) and open the “Start menu” I can see the “lost” user name. By clicking the + I can bring up application data/cookies/desktop/favourites/local settings. (All my lost user name favourites are still there!)
If I open application data/microsoft/internet explorer/quick launch/-Outlook Express or Word only brings up the very recent items under “Dad” BUT not the historical user name files.

Is there any way to get them back??
Have I lost all my past e-mails and letter correspondence??

I remember drag & dropping the user name file, short cut, on to the desktop and trying to put it back into the start menu but couldn’t replace it.

Appreciate any help in recovering my e-mails and Word if possible.

My operating system is Windows 2000 and Outlook Express 6.
