Connection Speed
      #204367 - Fri Jul 01 2005 04:48 PM

I got a laptop for business, and I want to use to connect to the Internet.

It has a GSM/ISDN modem in it, but that's were the problem starts. It's supposed to connect at about 46kbps (standard for dial-up) but instead it connects at 9kbps. I took out a Pay As You Go account with Virgin.net but it doesn't work very well. takes about 1 minute to load google, and when your on PAYG, you can imagine it costs quite a bit.

9Kbps? That's appallingly low. Something's wrong somewhere. Have you contacted Virgin about this? I get 24.0 sometimes, but usually re-dialling gets me something a lot better.
Madeline.
To err is human; to foul things up totally, you need a computer.
