I am running out of ideas now. The only thing I can think of now is that for some unknown reason your own ISP has put some sort of block on POP mail from Google. Seems totally unlikely I know but if the problem isn't on your PC it can only be on your ISP's server. How about going to their customer service people and asking the question.

I e-mailed those guys at my ISP and got a lovely reply "only" a week later giving me the link of Gmail support site where I can read (again!) how to configure it.. Oh dear!
Well, thanks anyway to everybody who tried to help!

I have just solved this problem when trying to solve a completely different one!
I needed to connect to a secure site, but failed to do so, 'coz I had IE 6 with cipher strength set at 40-bit, when 128-bit was required. So, I re-installed IE to have cipher strangth changed and after doing so I was able to confige Gmail!
A big thank-you goes to everybody who tried to help!

Could you tell me exactly how you got it to Gmail and outlook to work. I dont understand why I would need to reinstall IE, or what I would need to change if I did so.
