hey everyone, i really need some help!
to cut a long story short, i was a bit silly in a certain forum on the internet, got carried away and was abusive to another poster. this resulted in me being banned from the forum immediately via an email.
i'm worried because in the email from the forum administrator it said, "attempts to reregister on this forum may result in an abuse report being filed with your ISP".
it just sounds so serious and i'm worried that i'll get reported even though i haven't tried to reregister. i did try & access the general forum site again just so i could read more info about it, but it wouldn't let me on at all, it just said that the page couldn't be accessed.
could anyone tell me what an abuse report is exactly, and what happens if they send one? does anyone have any advice on what i should do?
i'm probably being a little paranoid here, since i haven't tried to reregister again, but i don't wanna get into trouble.
i feel so silly! :-(
thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

When you post on a forum your IP address is logged and from this the admin would be able to identify your internet service provider.
With your IP address and any evidence they have about you being abusive they could send this information to your ISP which in the worst case could result in your ISP withdrawing their service to you.
I don't think you have anything to worry about given what was said in the email to you unless of course you try to re-register.

Put it down to experience and move on. I feel silly on a regular basis. Open another bottle of chardonnay and dribble down your chin - works for me every time!

Not sure what you mean blacklisted, you were banned from a forum, or is this a separate question.

If the information the admin provided to your ISP broke their terms of service they could withdraw your internet access. As I said before, from the email it doesn't look as though any further action is going to be taken so I wouldn't worry - just don't try to re-register and try the patience of the admin. No doubt they had rules for the forum and you broke them.
Might be an idea to take Noviciates advice

Further to Smudge's reply. Although an ISP can pull your access, they are a business. Unless you give them good reason, they'll keep on taking your money. If you were really bad, lose the user name and avatar, if you had one, that you used on that forum. That way if you come across someone from that forum in the future, they won't know to bear a grudge. P.S. The chardonnay tip is tried and tested.

You'd have to have done something very bad to be blacklisted with your ISP. After all, they want your money! Do what Noviciate says, open another bottle of your favourite tipple, forget about whatever it was and behave yourself in future! Madeline.

As long as you don't do that here, (be abusive to other members), you'll be fine
If chardonnay isn't your scene, I can highly recommend a Chilean Red

I've tried Chilean Red wine and it's very good, but maybe help2005 prefers beer or something else? Whatever, just be pleasant and you won't go far wrong, help2005. Madeline.
