Hello all
Just a general question about IP addresses. I am currently serving in Afghanistan. I am using a satellite uplink to access the internet. Could somebody please post a site or article regarding how, eventhough physically I am in Afghanistan, the IP address that I am using says that I am in the United States? I have this idiot that is hounding me telling me that I am not in Afghanistan because my IP address says that I am in the states...I tried to explain it, but am looking for help.
Thanks

Take a photo with a datestamp of something that is uniquely afghan, lol
You could get him to do a tracert, but I would imagine that your firewall will block any ping requests, however because it is highly likely that your ISP is based in the US, the data will automatically be seen as coming from with in the US
You could getting him to see if this visual trace route works, but I very much doubt it
