I like the site and it has some useful links on it.
Getting traffic from the search engines is the hard part, I'm a novice at web design also but have have picked up a few tips along the way, mainly from here and other forum's.
There are some really helpful people on here that have lots of knowledge!
Getting other sites to link to your site improves the chances of search engines finding your site, this is mentioned a lot by all web professionals as the best way to increase web traffic from search engines.
Reciprocal linking is popular but be sure you DO NOT link with "bad neighbours", sites which contain porn, violence, hatred, illegal activities or sell drugs such as Viagra, or sites which send out spam etc. as this can seriously effect your search engine ranking and could even get you barred from their searches!
The search engine companies are not in the least bit helpful and if you can contact them don't expect a reply from them!
Kind regards
chez

Hi,
I have never been concerned with being listed in search engines, if it happens great, if not....ah well.
I think good content is always the first place to start.
However, here are a few sites that may give you some help.
Marketleap Search Engine World Tools A Promotion Guide
Hope these help.
Cheers,
Mark.

I'm no expert on websites, but I like yours. It's clear and easy to navigate, with information and advice given in plain English. The only things that spoilt it slightly were a few spelling mistakes/typos. Madeline.

I would be very interested to correct those typos madeline. If you have any time could you please email me so that I can correct them. You'll find my address at the bottom of the homepage. I never realised I had made any, but I did do it in kind of a hurry originally :) Any improvement suggestions are most welcome.
Thanks
Harry

There were very few, but I'll put them here if you don't mind!
On Spyware, hijakers should be hijackers. On Firewall, invation should be invasion and availabe should be available. On Extras, maner should be manner. On More Links, Im should be I'm.
That's all I noticed. I can't think of any other improvements you could make, but, as I said, I'm no expert. I think it's an excellent site and I would have been delighted to find such a clear and helpful site when I was a new user. I've bookmarked it so that I can keep up with future developments. Ive just thought, you might want to check out a² Free here. It's an excellent free malware scanner which checks for and removes all kinds of malware. I've used it for over a year and, on several occasions, it's found things that both Ad-Aware and Spybot missed. Madeline.

You're a gem Madeline, fixed the errors and posted a link to your malware scanner. I have also updated the site to include information about rootkits in the spyware section, if anyone is interested. It's a new type of stealth software which attempts to hide viruses and spyware.
Kind Regards
Harry

You're welcome, Harry. I've just added it to my Bookmarks in Firefox. I was using Maxthon when I bookmarked it yesterday. I read the bit about rootkits (typo: essenitaly should be essentially), they're scary, but not entirely new. I found a couple of things about them on the Symantec website. I Googled rootkits and found a couple of interesting things. This from Wikipedia and a free program from Sysinternals to find rootkits here. I don't know anything about this program, but you might want to check it out. Madeline.

With the greatest of respects, I wouldn't really trust technical advice from a site that is hosted on the cheap (or even free) and uses clip art. If I'm going to install software on my PC by recommendation, I'd want it from a VERY reliable source.
Sorry!

I think you misunderstood the site, I do not recommend any software on the site, I just provide a list of the free software which is available. I would not condone anybody downloading any software without first researching it themselves. For example, Spybot has been available for a long time and information on it is freely available both online and off. You don't have to try hard to find out about it, with 56 million downloads on download.com at last count, including me.
As for reliable sources, I have downloaded software from some very famous and extremely popular websites (which don't use clipart) only to find spyware in it. On the other hand, I have visited some very informative amateur sites such as the ones on this forum (with clipart) and found the content to be excellent. I think anyone who takes anything at face value nowadays is very nieve, do your own research.
After saying all that, I thank you for your post, I think criticism is very healthy for a site, as you can see by the above posts, I am very open to changing anything about the site that people find are just plain wrong.
Regards Harry

All of the applications on Harry's website are well known and most of us on here use all or some of them already, as well as recommending them to new users. There is no "technical advice" as such on there, just simple, clear explanations of the nasties one can encounter on the web with details of and links to trusted programs which are available to guard against and get rid of malware. Congratulations to Harry for having the initiative to set up a site which can be easily understood by even very new PC users. Madeline.

I agree Madeline, I think Harry is doing an excellent job, the more sites about spyware there are, the more people will be able to combat it.

Just a little note, The hard disk tool that you have linked to in the Hard drive section of Linx, should only be used by users of Seagate HDDs they won't work on other manufacturers.
Maxtor, Hitachi (IBM), Western Digital, the other 3 main HDD manufacturers use their own tools, and are freely available
And what no link to Web user in PC support

How true! Spyware is becoming a massive problem these days. I knew nothing about spyware when I first went on line, but I soon found out about it on here and got the appropriate programs to combat it. I think that sites like Harry's are ideal for a new user, because all the information is easily available and easy to understand. Madeline.
