gain pop ups are usually spyware popups,

Go to Spyware.com, and download 'Hijack This!'.

Unzip it, launch Hijack This, then press Scan, and press Save Log

This will generate a text file that will list all running processes, all applications that are loaded automatically when you start Windows, and more.

open that file
Go to Edit | Select all
Now click Edit | copy to copy it
Come back to Web user, Right Click and paste its contents here

Have you got a program to unzip it at all?

Hi Iain,

You can grab a copy of WinZip here.

Download WinZip if you like, but it could be worth trying this first.

I use ME which has a built in "unzipper", and it could be that 98 has too. Double click on a compressed (zipped) folder and it will open in an explorer-type window. Double click on the .exe file in the right hand pane, often called setup or the programme name, and it will install or run depending on what it is. In the case of Hijack This there's only the one file.

Hope that helps clarify things.
