I currently use IE6 but I've decided to try out a different browser. Narrowed it down to Maxthon and Firefox but before I try either I would be interested in knowing opinions on pro's and con's of each from the learned people on this forum.

I have only used IE and Firefox. And definitely prefer Firefox, I like the Tabbed browsing facility and my broadband connection runs quicker with FF. Also Mozilla has a dedicated help forum Here

Now that the BTYahoo browser has tabbed browsing, I rate it the best. I still like Firefox but it's only a matter of time before the hackers get it,so I'll stay with BTYahoo.

I have IE6 and firefox. I prefer firefox, but i don't think there is a great deal of difference when it comes to performance. Security is always cited as the main reason for choosing firefox, but who knows in the long run?

FYI, IE 7, due to start beta testing May/June, will have tabbed browsing capability. Although IE 7 was going to be shipped with the new Longhorn, with security the top priority, new encryption is allegedly meant to prevent phishing. Continual criticism of the security of earlier versions may have precipitated the early release of IE 7.
It may also be the case that M$ take a step ahead of their competitors, Firefox and Google.
It appears that the the popularity of Firefox 1.0, since it's launch in November 2004 has forced M$'s hand. The rumours that Google were contemplating a browser of their own, were fuelled by the number of ex Mozilla staff that have been employed, despite denials by google, though it may well be that they see the future to be with Firefox, rather than IE and want to just modify it
Certainly, M$ in their MSN guise, were caught on the hop by Gmail, increasing the size of Hotmail inboxes, and the release of the MSN toolbar, to compete directly with the google toolbar, and undoubtedly don't wish to be caught out again
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

Noviciate, vest does not rhyme with 'that'. ourstanley specifically asked 'what rhymes with that?' - He is obviously looking for words such as flat, cat, mat, fat, hat, etc., etc.

Have you got a link to that browser ? If so I'll give it a go. I'm a poet and don't know it.

Ain't me (sadly), as others have posted, phising scams are poor in grammar as is Our Stanley ie. two capital letters and a space, definitely not me ourstanley but I know somebody who may be a phisher who posts to this forum. Copy/paste usernames ain't hard but sadly he/she continues to make the same misstakes. May need a teacher ! May already have one ! Fails to listen.

Here's the browser, Wow Sir. Lottery winner, Money spinner. Try and rhyme, If you have the time. Shakespear's dead, It's left unsaid. At your leisure, Rhyme for pleasure. Firefox, you fool, Is so uncool. Maxthon, it's said, Install instead. Rhyming ends, Goodnight sends. Typing stops, Bottle tops. I'm all a-quiver, I need new liver. It's too bad, It's just a fad. Rhyming ends, Goodnight friends!

Not to mention St. George's day for all you English! To get back on topic, I use both Maxthon and Firefox, but I think people should try both of them to see which they prefer. I'm not going to come down on either side. If I can get the version of the BT Yahoo! browser with tabbed browsing, I'll have 3 to choose from. I like the BT Yahoo! browser a lot, if it had tabbed browsing, it would be great! Madeline.

As I said in the other thread, I have always preffered the BT Yahoo browser, and apart from the tabbed browsing now available, the Launchcast radio makes it even better.
