Hi every one, I just wanted a bit of feed back on my new site The B.W.D.A. opened on Saturday, January 1st, 2005.
I have received a total of 25 Web Awards for it including, 5 World Top Awards, but I would rely like an independent view of it.
B.W.D.A. (Basingstoke Worldwide Design Award) - Web design award program with English, Dutch, German, and Flemish evaluations. Also with large resource area, that include, web related, my home town Basingstoke, and some, pages to do with the Blind. Rated: Award Sites! 3.5, WebsAwards 4.0
I would like to here any feed back you have to offer, can you think of any thing extra I could add, or is there anything that you don't like about it, all feed back will be used to improving, and fine tuning the site, all would be appreciated, Thanks Cliff.

Hi, your site seems pretty professional and clean looking to me, its just all very grey. I don't really get sites with Enter site buttons on the index page- why doesn't the site just open straight away? Also, the enter site button itself is quite small and it took me a few seconds to work out where to go.
Not wanting to sound rude, I'm just a little confused -I don't understand what the point of all the award sites on the net is? It seems that so many sites have all these awards from sites which I have heard of, and there are even sites to tell you how to apply for all the awards available? Have I missed something and its just me who before today new nothings of all these awards?

Hi Kat_1, Thanks for you replay, :) yes I suppose it is all very grey, just how I wanted it, to make everything stand out, and professional looking.
"I don't really get sites with Enter site buttons on the index page- why doesn't the site just open straight away?" Well, in my case, can't talk for every one, I want my guests to see my Ratings, and certifications, before they enter my site, also to tell people that its best viewed with IE. 5.0+. Site optimized for screen 1024 x 768 resolution with Java enabled. Designed while using a "medium" text setting in IE. 6.0. And to see the credits, and site Info page, before entering the site.
About my enter button point taken will look into that.
"I don't understand what the point of all the award sites on the net is?" Well to start with, most people want some sort of recognition for their hard work, also help and guidance in improving there web sites, this is given on request, by our guests, the help, I give is, free advice, free tuition if needed. With all our evaluations of the web sites that are submitted to use, we check for things like coding, design, content, all aspects of the sites, and give scoring for things in our criteria, please remember all scoring is just our opinion on a site, from experienced webmasters to professional designers.
We also have free online tools, to help people, with there sites, also If an applicant wins one of our awards, they get free referrals to there sites, in our winners pages, with full description of the site.
We do not ask anything in return, we all give up our spear time, in the hope of bettering the web, people ask us what right do you have to, judge other sites or be critics of them, well the simple, why come to us in the first place and ask use to, we don't critersize we only give negative feed back on request. We all start somewhere, its our way of saying thank you for the help we have received along the way.
So its all about, promoting web excellence, help, feed back, referrals, and family safe sites, and information.
Also there is down sides to it, there is sites out there, what we call give away awards, and that's about self promotion, they don't even visit your site, give feed back, just send you an award and ask you to link it back to them.
Thanks, Cliff.
