Hi, I apologize if this has already been posted. I have AOL dial-up and soon (1-2 weeks) will be getting AOL broadband. Is there anyway I can connect to the internet and use any other browser without connecting with the crap AOL one? Thanks in advanced.

I had the misfortune to start my surfing life with AOL and I amended my browser to IE. Trouble is, it was many moons ago and I can't remember how I did it. So in answer to your question, yes, it should still be possible but you'll have to do some hunting around to find out how.

Yes, you can minimise the AOL browser and just open IE.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply's. I normally minimize the AOL browser but its really annoying to have to do that all time. I want other programs to just connect, this is the first time Ive ever had the internet so Im not sure this is even possible.
Ive tried dialing the same numbers and using the same account details as AOL with IE but no joy. Is there any other way?

As you're with AOL you have to log on which means signing on via their browser! If you're satisfied with using IE, then as soon as you're on the net and minimise AOL's browser, there's no need to use that browser again until you sign on/off. We have an AOL genius (or two!) who are regulars on the forum, so hopefully they will give you a few tips and advice! By the way, welcome to the forum

I concur with Hello_There 100% If you're an AOL subscriber the way to go is sign on minimise the AOL Homepage then click on the IE icon on the desk top to continue 
Have you got AOL 9? If so , make a link on the carousel for Internet Explorer and/or change the Homepage link? Mind you the default Homepage on IE is MSN Change that to Google? and you can get almost anywhere(do the same on the AOL settings)
I only look at the AOL Homepage to check email then I'm out of there for almost all of the surf session
I have been with AOL for several years(and several versions) don't like some of the features. but reliability is good .Unlike my first 2 ISPs which bounced me off after 10 minutes surfing and charged more than a cheap broadband ISP would charge now, for the Privilege of being "connected" Have posted a thread on this site ,somewhere deep about a year ago about these companies

You can use the AOL Dialler. Then you won't have to open AOL At all.
Just Right Click on the aol icon in the system tray and select : Start Aol Dialler, Set it up and there you go.
