      #179571 - Sun Apr 17 2005 12:42 PM

Using Windows 2000 ME. I.E. 6.My mate can't get IE to start at all.He is using NTL broadband.Email working fine from the "outlook" icon on desktop, but clicking "Internet Explorer" icon does nothing.Egg timer displays for 20 secs then disappears.Tried going in to Program files etc to get it to start but still no luck.Problem seems to have started after installing a Norton package inc Internet security, but can't see anything obvious.Help!!!

Try creating a new shortcut to Internet Explorer by right clicking on the desktop and choosing New, Shortcut. Browse to this location - C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and point the shortcut to it.

Can we go back to the version of Windows he's using. Is it Windows 2000 or Windows Me?

It can't be both 2000 and Me. Please right click on the desktop icon My Computer, choose Properties and click on the General tab. What does it say against System?
