protecting e-mail address on web-sites
      #1736 - Thu Jun 26 2003 12:19 PM

Hi

I'm being plagued by e-mail harvesters who are getting my e-mail addresses from my website through my coding. Although I use mailwasher, I want to stop the spammers at source. Is there a wrap around html code that I can use to stop web robots from harvesting the e-mail addresses that I use?
Many thanks.
Chris

Why not have your email address as a descriptive button, then link to it?
This is the type of code on my site.

Email The Webmaster!

Anyone with a pinch of common sense can see that the AT needs changing to @ and web bots are unable to read your email address to harvest it into their spam programs!

But your email address still appears in the status bar, so its still available to anyone.

It is still visible to the HUMAN eye but not the spambots! The point of this is to make it unreadable to the email harvesting software.

Thanks chaps, anything to put an end to countless cheap viagra and rude e-mails. I tried right clicking to view the source on your contact us page Paul, is it right click protected? Not that I'd borrow on a permanent basis your coding....
