Hi
I always use my WMP basic version, when i click on a short movie clip or a tune mpeg! It was working ok yesterday, but now when i click on something & expect the media player to show up, it doesn't!
The 2 small monitors that flash in the bottom right corner to tell if it's fetching something, they are lightening up, but the Media player doesn't arrive, the little green monitors in the bottom right, just keep luminating for ages!, normaly this is a sign of activity, but nothing happens!
Things i have in 'my documents' open ok with media player, but when online & i click on something, nothing happens!
Hope someone can help !

Please help anyone, also when i go on the BBC site & open music, the WMP opens ok & buffers the tune!
Could this be because i ran Spybot & erased everything from it & maybe it dissalowed wmp from opening!
Anybody!!!

Run System restore and pick a point before the problem arose. Hopefully this will solve your problem.

I run Windows98, is it the same with this!
I didn't knowingly do anything for this to happen! One day i used it & was ok, next day not.! Can anyone explain!

I'm sure not upgrading to XP isn't a reason why my WMP isn't working! Please can anyone tell me why & help!
I don't want to upgrade, can't afford to & why should i !, W98 is fine & does all i need!
How come when i click on an mpeg it won't open!
Please help!

what version of wmp have you got.

mmm, i think it's the most basic version, the one that opens with a relatively small 6"x3" screen.
I did have the newer one that fills the screen, but i didn't like it!
When i go to BBC & listen to a music clip on their music page, it appears as usual ok & minimalizes to just the audio streaming, & stuff that open in 'my documents' are ok, just when i want to do audio-video stuff!

Hi
I just clicked on a short movie mpeg that opens with WMP. Normally the media player shows up, followed by my Zone alarm alert asking if i want to allow Media player & then the movie clip starts to download!
This time, the 2 little green windows in the bottom right glow, but you don't see the media player until it's finished. You also only see half of it, just the screen & play & stop buttons & the left to right scroll! At the top it says " media clip client document"
Hope you can solve this for me!

Thanks Bricat, i'm a novice & don't realy know what i'm looking for only the symptoms i can see happening on screen!, not the technical discription! I don't even know what version it is! When i click on help & about on mediaplayer, the number don't match any on the microsoft reference page! it is 6.4.07.1121, there's a fiew similar, but not that one!
Could i uninstall & reinstall the media player, & if so how??
Someone said that it seems i have downloaded a skin!!

In help About Windows Media Player this tells you what version you have installed ie. WMP10 not 10.00.00.3646.

When i see my small WMP box, i click on help, about wmp, i get a small box saying version 6.4.07.1121 there's nothing to be seen of media player 7.1 or 6.4 etc..
On the microsoft page that shows a list of numbers, similar to the one i have, mine isn't there!
Could i uninstall & reinstall to fix my prob, i just want thew default basic bare bones version, could this fix my prob.

with that small a screen you have probably installed windows media player classic.
install WMP9
it should install ok over the top of the other one.

What is the reason i have this problem, is it because i have downloaded a skin? it occured overnight & i dunno! I like the media player i have & want to know why its acting up!?
Why is it that it's doing what it is , by not showing & saying ontop what it says!

Where can i find a download to reinstall WMP classic?
I don't like the big updated one!
or how can i get the one i have to go back to it's default, like how it used to be!, maybe i have downloaded a skin, any help please!!!!

Thanks, thats very useful, i shall use this, but first i must determine which version i have!
I clicked on help, about media player & the version number is 6.4.07.1121 on the microsoft "which version do i have" page, this number aint there!! any one know!!
