webcam

Hi all,

I have bought a new Advent T1 Pc (XP) with webcam installed but cant get it to work. I have done the tuning wizard and it seems camera & microphone are working, but when i try to `speak` to my mum in the states, she can hear & see me, but i can only see her, not hear her. Seems to be conflict somewhere. I have broadband, have contacted MSN messenger about the problem, have tried AIM & Yahoo! messenger, but the problems still there. I have even taken the comp in to see if it works in the shop, & it does, but when i get it home, it doesnt! I have shortened the cable running from the phone socket as was told this might be the problem but alas no. My mum manages to `speak` to others without a problem & i am having problems with another friend who lives in the UK, so it seems its my end thats at fault. I shouldnt need a sound card should i with a new PC? I really don`t know what to do next - its all so frustrating!!

if you have norton internet security installed, i suggest disabling that and trying again. if it works then you will need to configure norton to allow the sound.

Thanks, I`ve got McAfee, and we`ve both disabled our anti-virus but the problem still exists.

Are both running the same version of messenger ?

I had some issues that were resolved by installing the latest version 7.0 by all parties. Currently v7.0 is a beta but is has cool new features.

Also if your behind a NAT firewall you may have to set up port forwarding unless you have uPNP enabled on your router and windows.

I will send my email and you can make me a contact and i will type you through it.

Thanks,
I`m not sure where to start looking for the volume control near clock - you`ll have to help me out!! I`ve looked in the control panel, but cannot see where to go
