I have been using winmx for years with no problems, until this week. Lately, I can't find anything when I search. Typically nothing comes up, or just a couple files will be found. I even tried a search for Elvis, and only three files appeared! What's wrong? I noticed a few other people on this site have had some difficulties, has anyone come to a conclusion? Is there some other P2P program I should get? I don't like Kazaa because I can't play songs and save them in winamp. So what is the problem??

No problems using winmx or with your end?
I've also been using winmx for several years and have recently been getting hardly any search results. I gave up last night and started using Bit Torrent

I can't get it to connect at all. The connection indicator just blinks. Any ideas about if or when it will be back up?

I think the sad fact is (well, sad for use freeloaders!) that the widespread availability of legal music downloads is killing the likes of Kazaa and WinMX.
I've always been a hardcore music downloader, but now I can get good quality versions of the songs I want for 79p or so, without having to wait from being 99th in a queue, I'm quite happy to pay. Itunes has a pretty good selection, haven't tried Napster or Wippit yet, but the last time I used WinMX I got a virus. Has illegal file-sharing had its day?
Think movies are a different matter, hence the popularity of Bittorrent, but for a 4MB song I don't think 79p is unreasonable.

79p per track is ok. But do you actually own the rights for the music ?
Most pay sites limit how many times you can 'copy' the music to your MP3 player or even another PC.
so in 10 years time when you are on your 2nd, 3rd or perhaps 4th PC will the mucis you have paid for still work. Unlikely.
