Very rare to get the truth and some sense from an ntl worker. Why would you want to ask them a question on the internet ? That's masochistic.

Are you on NTL then, vanguard?? Have you ever found out what Chetnet is all about?

Chetnet:
This is not an official ntl: website. The Chetnet Forums were set up in October 2002 and the focus is technical support and help for ntl: Customers. Some members of the team running the site are ntl: employees and this is clearly indicated in their signatures when posting.

Historically the focus has been on support for ntlworld Internet services, but as the Chetnet site has grown this has widened out to include ntl: TV services and other areas such as Security, Networking and support for ntl:’s Product and Technology Trials.

One key message “up front”. This is not a hell site, nor does it have any aspirations to be one. If you arrived here by looking for somewhere to rant about ntl:, without needing help (or otherwise wanting to contribute positively), keep looking.

Keeping it friendly has resulted in “problem solved” for thousands of people, and that is how we intend to keep it. Remember to be as nice/friendly as possible and have fun, after all that's why we are all here.

I am an ntl customer and I have seen the site you mention. It's a handful of people with dillusions of grandeur in my opinion. Yes problems can get solved there but not very many and in their own sweet time too. The site seems very regimented and stifled as well with one word out of place and the people in charge begin clicking their heels. Chetnet is a multiple personality freak, not knowing exactly what it is, what it's there for or how to treat the few people who actually seem to use it. Fortunately there are many more sites out there where good quality technical advice can be found, and where an element of freedom of speech exists. ntl staff are friendly but stupid to the point of being no help at all. Unless your call to ntl is a free one, you might as well phone the samaritans for a little friendly chat instead. Chances are you'd get more help from the samaritans about your ntl problem too. ntl were recently voted as having the worst customer service in this country. Fact. They need to concentrate on one important factor when interviewing potential employees, and that is, does this person have a brain or will he or she just fit in with the rest of the muppets and allow us to retain the number 1 slot for the worst customer services again next year.

Well, I must be a very lucky customer. It's not often I have had to phone them but every query has been answered or rectified immediately, and that's not just with BB queries, as at one stage I had five accounts with them.

How did you have 5 accounts with them ? And yes, you've been lucky, or maybe I just get put through to the brainless ones EVERY time :-)

gee !!! i didn't know i had heels. are you always this pessimistic, or do you have good days. . chetnet is made up from NTL employees who give up their free time to help "ordinary" computer users. obviously they can't criticise the company they work for in public otherwise their positions would be in jeopardy. also NTL give them a lot of support and resourses.

Sorry, no offence but I don't want to reveal what those accounts were for (privacy reasons) but NTL do more than BB packages!! Every service I've had from them ran very smoothly. If they hadn't I would not have "gone back to them" when I moved. When I went back on BB, there was a nationwide problem registering via their CD, but within two minutes (yes...two!) of calling their helpline, I was up and running on the internet again!! Now if that ain't good service......
