MP3 Woes
      #170161 - Mon Mar 14 2005 07:18 PM

I have connected my MP3 player to my computer, and the machine has not detected it.This is despite the MP3 players "Ready" screen coming on{without a battery in the MP3 -the machine is obviously drawing from the PC's powe supply}.
Help!

Are you running XP?

Have a look at Device Manager while it's connected. Are there any yellow ! or ?

I was having similar problems with my own recently.

I solved it but not sure how. Read this to see if any of it helps.

It's all very strange because you don't need to install drivers with XP. It should pick it up by itself. Try a different USB port.

I have two USB ports to the rear of the machine,my printer uses the other one.
The printer was playing silly buggers as well{displaying messages that the pc couldn't communicate with it,ggggggrrrrrrrrrr}.I've swapped the cables over repeatedly,to no long term joy.
My latest theory is I have a dodgy USB port{are these easy to remedy?},a dodgy cable on the MP3{I may get a new cable},or this is a sign from god that I need an iPod.
