I need to create something that can find the design work I have backed up on DVD so it's easier to find.

There are loads!

basically something like preloaded does here:

I will be showing up to six thumbnails for each piece of work and the work will be displayed one after the other alphabetically DVD after DVD.

That bit I can manage but I also want to be able to:

• Change the alphabetical list, to a list of work done for a specific client. (selected from a list of clients in a dropdown)
• Change the alphabetical list, to a list of work done for a specific genre. (Again dropdown)
• Have a text box field that can find work which match up with any descriptive words you may enter (eg. red colour yellow colour).

This will make it easier to find work and avoid having to scroll miles to find it.

What's involved in getting this done?

Sorry if this is a big task I'm not completely sure how to go about this, but if anyone can direct me to anything already done which I can tweak, or give me easy step by step instructions I would be very greatful.
