osCommerce basic help
      #169971 - Sun Mar 13 2005 09:42 PM

I am totally new to oscommerce and have never played with shopping carts at all so need some very basic help.
Firstly at the moment I do not need a shopping cart just an online catalog so is there a way to turn off that part of it, the plan is for the site to start selling goods online later but right now it is one step at a time so just want to get this set up and start uploading some stock and then go from there. also how do you change the $ sign to the £ sign as this is for the uk,
Lastly is there an include template to change the default oscommerce logo at the top.
I think that covers the worst of my head scratching for now.

have posted on the oscommerse forums but sadly no reply from there.

Cheers
Ian

Thanks in advance

Regards
Ian

I hate to say it, but have you read the manual...? :)

'My Store' configuration is where you set the currency and country.

Language text definitions tells you how to change the .

Try the oscommerce forums, there's a section called Installation and Configuration, plus a section about pretty much everything else you'll ever need to know about oscommerce

Have you seen Zen Cart? It's an off-shoot of OsCommerce and looks miles better and easier to set up.

Thanks for all advice, have spent the last week on the oscommerce forums and now have to script up and running, in fact after a bit of trial and error and help from the oscommerce forums it is amazing how easy it is to install, I have not even checked out zen cart so can not comment on that but would totally reccomend oscommerce, it is also one of the power tools on the host i use so it is really just a case of clicking a button to install it then pointing the browser at the config page and away you go, This is only going to be used as an online catalogue for now so i used a contribution to remove the shopping cart section.

Cheers
Ian
