Licence Needed to play on MP3?
      #169294 - Fri Mar 11 2005 01:19 PM

Heard a great track today which I posted about HERE
Couldn't wait to go to the shops to buy it so I paid for and downloaded a single from Tesco's. When I played it first time on WMP 10 it asked about a licence. I just clicked ok etc...came up saved etc and I can play it no probs. Youngest daughter is at home after breaking her leg in three places and likes the track and asked me to download it on to her MP3 player which she bought last week. No problem transfering the file at all...i can see it on her MP3 and even play it while it's connected to the computer. However when I gave it to her to play it wouldnt recognise it !!!! Weird...can anyone help please.

Go to the Tesco.com Downloads Store. On the right hand side, click on Download Q&A. Click on 'Playing your tracks' and finally on 'Can I copy this music to give to my friends.'
While it is said that 'The Meek Shall Inherit The Earth', nobody guaranteed what state it would be in when they got it!

Thanks for that....I've read it and it says that I can play it on a portable player and transfer it a maximum of three times. I haven't been able to transfer and play it once.

Guessing time! I assume that somewhere on your PC is the 'licence' for the track. Perhaps the MP3 player is recognized as a 'foreign' item. Therefore the licence stops the track playing seperately from your PC. Do you have an MP3 player of your own? If so, try and put the track on there. I'd be interested to know if this works - could save me some trouble in the future.

That's what I thought must be something to do with the licence but it clearly states I can transfer it to an MP3. It shouldn't matter who owns it should it? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. When I transfer the file as I said I can see it on the MP3 and even play it form there via the computer if you know what I mean. It's just that when we unplug it from the comp it can't be seen.....as I said strange.
