Hi,
I have changed a considerable amount of my website including design, content and navigation.
I would love a bit of feedback, so if you wouldn't mind just taking a few minutes to have a look and leaving me a post I would be really grateful.

Thanks,

Hi Mark,
you've been busy! It looks good - I like the fact that you have a consistent layout now, with the links always appearing down the left hand side of the page.
Not sure if you realise that the photos on:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.evetts/mark's_homepage_000004.htm
are massive and would never download on dialup, or would, but would take a very very long time...
While they may appear small on the actual web page, via your HTML e.g:
<IMG SRC="mark's_homepage_i00008a.jpg" BORDER=0 ALIGN=MIDDLE WIDTH=409 HEIGHT=307 >
the HTML merely links to the image, which in it's raw form is here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.evetts/mark's_homepage_i00008a.jpg
Some of the images are over 0.75 Mb - just because the image looks small on the screen doesn't mean it will be quick to download. You'd need to resize the photos in an image editing application, so that the image on the web is really 409 * 307 pixels, and not the real size of 2048*1536 pixels...
Well done on the new job by the way - I love that shakeskin link by the way...
Jim

Looks well laid out. ~ I would probably change the "home" text at the top of the page, and maybe clean up the text on the banner. ~ "Created with the TRIAL version of Visual Vision's EasyWebEditor. To remove this text, please purchase the full version. EasyWebEditor, the easy Website creator software." is there any way you can remove this too as it looks very amateur-ish. ~Try not to use "mailto:email..." links as spam robots can easily find these and use a form, http://allforms.mailjol.net/ offfer a free form processing service (at least they did last time I checked) ~Your pictures are funny but a lot of people don't like scrolling down, have you considered having one per page, or orgainisng them per category. I don't know if you do this now but it's best to put the new ones at the top so that people don't have to go to the end to see what's new. ~Other than that looks very good! :D

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the advice, it is very welcome.
I completely agree about the images, I'm not too clued up with image editing software yet! I do have Fireworks MX on my machine, if I got to grips with it would it do the job?
Really chuffed about the job, can't wait to start.
All the best,
Mark.

Hi Nanook,
Thanks for your suggestions, very much appreciated.
The text on the banner could do with improving, as I said to Jim (bumpyride) I neeed to start getting to grips with some image editing software for areas like this.
I have not found a way of removing the blurb at the bottom of the page, I guess I will just need to buy the software! However, I'm doing my PGCE at the moment and so on a very tight budget. In the Autumn I will be able to afford such luxuries.
Following on from this, I would like to reorganise my funny pics into categories and have them more efficiently laid out. The only problem is that I am limited to a max of 15 pages on this trail version. So, as above, once I have the full edition I can look at this. Thanks for the tip on having the most recent at the top, so obvious, but I had completely misssed it!
I agree with the contact address, it has been put through Email Obfuscator which helped the spam problem and Vodafone Mail have just introduced new anit-spam measures that seems comprehensive as I get next to nothing through now.
Thanks again for the pointers.
All the best,
Mark.

Hi Jim,
I finally got around to sorting out my New Year photos on my website. I removed the red-eye issue in some of the shots with Picasa 2 and then resized using Fireworks MX. What a difference it has made, I knew there would be an improvement, but they load so much faster now.
Cheers,
Mark.

Mark
Plenty of Fireworks MX 2004 tutorials here.
I would be glad to offer my limited assistance if you need any more guidance with Fireworks. I have been using it a lot lately.

Thanks jonnymac1979,
I will definitely check out the links you have provided and will certainly remember you as a point of contact for future assistance. I am getting there slowly, the website is on the back burner whilst I'm doing my teacher training. Over the summer it should get some attention again!
All the best,
Mark.

No probs mate.
Fireworks is a very complex tool and I actually prefer it to Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, having tried all three. But with me using Dreamweaver a lot also, the interface is similar so I decided to stick with what I knew best.
I created this in Fireworks and Animation Shop last night for someone in another forum I post in. Took me just over half an hour. Easy when you know how. You will get there in the end.

(PS FAO Mods, I'm not advertising this site in any way shape or form. Who barring me supports Liverpool on here anyway? I'm simply showing mevetts what can be done with Fireworks.)
