Hi. Any idea if there is any free scanning software out there? Have an ancient scanner but no software. Don't need anything fancy, just to scan a lot of photographs so I can have them on a cd. Thanks.

Have you got the Drivers for the scanner?
If yes, you can use Irfanview 781kb freeware, once installed, go to File | Select Twain Source Hightlight the scanner and Click Select
Then go to File | Acquire You should be able to scan with no problems

Hi. Thanks for the info, I downloaded the software. Tried to find the driver, have to pay for it from the manufacturer because it's only available on cd for some reason. Then I found it on another website but after I downloaded it and was trying to unzip it keeps giving an error message that it's corrupt. Any ideas there? It's a Umax Astra 1200S, running on windows 98. Thanks again.
