Are you saying that it only happens on the Open Forum on this site or is it common across other sites? Also what OS are you using?

Sorry, I'm still not sure exactly where the problem lies. Can you point me to one of these cartoons that you are having trouble with. It sounds as if your PC is having trouble closing down one cartoon before it starts loading another one, which is normally a sign of memory shortage.

These fancy animations and things are really links which will cause people slow connections problems.

I think it’s crazy to allow uses programming tools in a forum and that their lucky no one has abused this power, but hey it’s up to them right.

I've just had a look at one or two of those cartoons and they really are quite large. I've got BB but I imagine they must take ages over a dial-up. First thing to do is download the latest Macromedia Flash software. When, you've got that, check the settings to make sure they fit your setup. I think your problem is almost certainly related to the file sizes and the fact that your PC is trying to unload the files before it can move on to another task. Try the update first and let's see what happens.

I’m a real cheapskate but must say broadband is worth the extra dosh over dial-up, really is a different ball game.

I’ve had BT broadband for 12months,
Failed connections – nil
Downtime – nil
Hassle – nil.
28 quid a month plus your line of course. (ouch)

Kazaalite – free!!!!!!!!

Bliss!

Nobodies used 'programming tools'. They are just links to Flash animations on other sites.

Relax jonny555 no one is saying you have done anything wrong.

What I am saying is that allowing blind links and active components could put users a risk from attack from “web vandals” and there are no shortage of villains out there.

I’m against hanging and flogging, but I hope the guy who invented flash would meet and marry my EX, I can’t think of any torture or torment greater that!! Every site you visit is like bl**dy Las Vegas.

That's the idea with some of these sites though, and there shouldn't be any serious risks if people, meaning their computers, are properly protected.

For anyone who isn't, help yourself. Just click on the coloured links.

AVG Anti Virus
AVG e-mail scanner
Zone Alarm Firewall
Kerio Firewall
Sygate Firewall
Ad Aware
Spybot
Cookie Wall
On line trojan scanner
Spyware Blaster

Hope that lot helps keep someone safe. You only need one of the firewalls. Take your pick.

There is intelligent life on Earth, but I'm only visiting.
