File Transfer
      #16163 - Tue Oct 14 2003 06:43 PM

I need help please. I need to get a 10 mb .exe file to my friend. I don't have a cd re-writer, but my friend does and i need the file burning to a disk. Please can anyone suggest any free ways i can do this, cheers.

If you both have or install MSN messenger, then you would be able to transfer the file.
All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work

I would start with WinZip to squash the file as small as possible and at the same time use the WinZip facility to span your file across several floppy discs. Another option is to buy one of the USB 'sticks' that are available and copy your file that way. A third method is to use the OE option of splitting a large file into smaller pieces and sending it over the net. A fourth option is to find someone with another PC that does have a CD/RW and connect the two PC's together with a crossover cable. Finally, if you are both XP users you can set up a connection between the two PC's over the net.

Thanks for all the great methods suggested. I have already got MSN Messenger and tried that method but it didn't work and I didn't want to spend any money on a USB drive. I used the file chopper and it worked well. Thanks e_me_andy
